Deion Sanders & Winky Wright | On Thursday January 29 during Super Bowl week, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Michael Clayton and former Junior Middle Weight Champion Winky Wright hosted the Black Tie Sports Gala held at Sak's Fifth Avenue in the West Shore Mall Plaza in Tampa, Florida. This exciting star studded event included a cocktail reception and hor d'oeuvres, a sports memorabilia auction, a sports tribute ceremony and live entertainment.
Wright and Clayton both honored some legendary sports athletes for their combined on field accomplishments along their services to the community off the field. These honorees included Artist Gilmore of the NBA, Doug Williams of the NFL, Fred McGriff of the MLB, and Diego "Chico" Morrales former boxer.
Former NFL great and Florida resident, Deion Sanders, came out with his family and spoke in front of the many guests and supporters to state how important it is for as parents to be involved in our children's lives and to help others in need. Any contributions are beneficial in helping shape our children's lives and step in the right direction. Sanders congratulated and honored the charitable endeavors and efforts of Winky Wright and Michael Clayton and state we could get behind anything these two gentleman strive to achieve.
Many unique sports memorablia as well as classic entertainment items were used in the auction. The money raised from the auction benefited the Michael Clayton and Winky Wright Foundations which help support the many charities in the tampa bay area communities. Farano's Barack Obama painting, titled "A New Beginning" was on display and for auction.
This very classy and upscale event was by invitation only. "It was very gracious of Michael (Clayton) and Winky (Wright) to have invited us (Sports Art Illustrated) and part of another event the two gentleman had put together this week during the Super Bowl. We had a great time."
