| On Wednesday January 28th the Third Annual Michael Clayton Celebrity Hoops Basketball Jam took place in Tampa Florida during Super Bowl week. Clayton invited and requested Farano to paint live at the charitable event. There was a VIP reception where fans got an opportunity to meet the invited pro athletes and celebrities prior to the basketball game and afterwards. There was also a special halftime performance by Def Jam recording artist
Ace Hood and Universal Records recording artist Kia Shine.
The list of top flight pro athletes and celebrity friends of Clayton's were split and divided into two different teams who were then set to battle on the hard court. One team was headed up by Michael Clayton, the other by Winky Wright. The participants included NFL players such as Lavelle Hawkins, Chris Johnson, Corey Webster,
Joseph Addai, Travis Daniels, Aqib Talib, Antonio Bryant,
Marcus Spears, Dexter Jackson, and Keiwan Ratliff.
All fun and games aside, the main purpose and focus of the event was to
help raise money for local charities in the tampa bay area. "Michael
has such a big heart. There is so much that this man does for the
community and less fortunate that is not truly recognized or that makes
the big headlines. He is doing some really great stuff and I commend
him for all that he does and continues to do" states Farano.
In 2005 the Michael Clayton Generation Next Foundation which supports a variety of charities in the Tampa Bay area, as well as Clayton's
hometown Baton Rouge. Some of these charities include the Ronald McDonald Mobile Care unit and the Tampa Bay Pediatric Cancer Center, as well as the LSU
Hurricane Katrina Fund. The foundation's mission and goal is to provide scholarships to deserving
underprivileged students.
"I have been fortunate enough to have been part of the last two Clayton Celebrity Hoops Jams. Michael understands what it means to give back to your community and does some great things that are not typically noticed. I look forward in continuing to help work with Michael and his foundation for many years to come in an effort to help others in need and help grow the foundation" states Farano.
