and Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Rays met for the first time at the
2008 Rays Fan Fest, which took place Sunday February 23rd at Tropicana
Field. The original painting, titled “Adaptive Instincts”, was
autographed by Crawford and is now currently on exhibit in the Ted
Williams Museum, located inside of Tropicana Field, home of the Rays.
The painting will be on display for the entire 2008 baseball season.
After being pulled aside by the Rays to meet Carl Crawford, the two had a chance to meet and this was the first time Carl had an opportunity to see Farano's masterpiece live in person. Crawford was very impressed with the painting and couldn't believe how real it looked and the amount of detail that was captured.
After Crawford autographed the original painting and on the way out of the ball bark, a few of the associates of the Ted Williams museum tracked down the artist before he left. Dave McCarthy, Executive Director of the Ted Williams Museum, introduced himself and mentioned he'd like to work with Farano and Sports Art Illustrated in the future.
"I'm really excited about a few of the unexpected things that happened today so hopefully some good stuff will develop from here" states Farano.
